Regularly present outreach presentations to local clubs and organizations.
Participated in classroom conversations on plastic pollution as a Skype a Scientist volunteer
Mentor for high school capstone project teams and individuals working on plastic-related science fair projects in New York State.
Taught Plastic Tides interns how plastics are identified in environmental samples
Created an undergraduate lab session focused on microplastic identification and quantification (pictured), paired with a guest lecture in class on the topic.
In coordination with 6th grade teaching team, designed & team-taught a 4 week unit on water quality in local science class.
Co-led week long environmental engineering career exploration camp for New York 4H participants.
Co-led weekend water quality immersion camp for middle school girls.
Assistant teacher for bicycle maintenance course at local high school.
Designed & taught one day course for middle school girls on camping skills.
Advising community groups
2020-present
I have served as an informal consulting scientist for Riverkeeper & plastic pollution nonprofits interested in gathering better data on trash in their local rivers and on their local beaches. In my current role, I advise Washington organizations on community science best practices.
